Vernal Equinox- March 20- Mid Spring

First Light is saturated with a songbird chorus of "Good Morning's". The first Life Giving Rains, laced with the mineral salts and nitrogen that promote the growth of new green plants, begin to fall. The bright green lichen, which covers the entire upper portion of nearly every tree along the roadsides, appears to pop foward with vibrancy and depth. The mornings and evenings still bear the lash of Winter's admonition- but the caress of the Spring Maiden is perceived in the noonday sun. This is a deep time of transitions.

While continuing to Hold Loving Intent for Our Waters, we incorporate into our Meditation this period:

March 22nd to May 1st, 2010
Sacred Breath
Blessed Birth
air=the plants=air=life

There is no being on Earth (that must draw Breath) that can survive with out the Green Plants. The most basic scientific knowledge - the oxygen we need to stay alive is exhaled by the green plants using the carbon dioxide that we and other animals exhale - leads one rather quickly to the conclusion that without the Plants, we cannot exist. We are in an endless and interdependent cycle of give and take with our green cousins. Trees are the largest Giver of oxygen, but all green plants participate in this life cycle.

"Let the trees be consulted
before you take any action
every time you breathe in
thank a tree
let the treeroots crack parking lots
at the world bank headquarters
let loggers be druids
specially trained and rewarded
to sacrifice trees at auspicious times
let carpenters be master artisans
let lumber be treasured like gold
let chainsaws be played like saxophones
let soldiers on maneuvers plant trees
give police and criminals
a shovel and a thousand seedlings
let businessmen carry pocketfuls of acorns
let newlyweds honeymoon in the woods
walk don't drive
stop reading newspapers
stop writing poetry
squat under a tree
and tell stories."

Let us then, dear Friends,
during this time of Greening (in the Northern Hemisphere)
draw our collective focus of power
to the raw potential of Life itself.
*
*
... to the tender green shoots pushing up through sun warmed soils
... to the sap as it journeys from roots, up trunks, to branches, where tiny leaf buds are forming
... to the eggs carefully, lovingly laid in freshly built nests
... to the mothers who lie in soft dens awaiting Birth
*
*
It is simple enough to sit quietly in the morning, or anytime of day, with the Earth- with the shoots of Daffodils, the birds who are making their nest in the eaves of your garage, imagining the deer finding a soft place that is safe to birth her fawn, etc... and Breathe into your Heart and allow your Heart Center to Open in Empathy to Life. Send those little shoots your Love and Tenderness- the Birds, the foxes, the wolves, the skunks...
*
Love is the Only Pure Force of the Universe.
All Plants and Creatures will feel
the balm and strength of the Love you send and share with them.
*
We all here on this Amazingly Beautiful and Fragile Planet are in a time of Birth. It is well known and understood in cultures who are still rooted in the Earth that the Time of Birthing can be a dangerous time for the birthing mother- it is indeed a precarious time for us all- Practice the Art of Tenderness with Yourselves- be attentive to how you are feeling in your bodies- rest when you feel you must, do when you feel you can do- Honor Your feelings and your participation in this glorious manifested physical experience. Your participation is most deeply needed.

"Wherever you are is home
And the earth is paradise
Wherever you set your feet is holy land...
You don't live off it like a parasite.
You live in it, and it in you,
Or you don't survive.
And that is the only worship of God there is."
- Wilfred Pelletier and Ted Poole

Thank you for taking this Journey with me.
Blessed Spring!
