Vernal Equinox: March 20, 2009

This is the time to gather the seeds of the Deep Winter Dream.
The Longings that are born of the Silence,
through the Blessings of the long dark night.

"Lord, the air smells good today, straight from the mysteries
within the inner courts of God.
A grace like new clothes thrown
across the garden, free medicine for everybody.
The trees in their prayer, the birds in praise,
the first blue violets kneeling.
Whatever came from Being is caught up in being,
drunkenly
forgetting the way back."
- Rumi

Spring Began on February 2nd.
Though not apparent on the surface
of our northern snow covered landscapes, the Earth shifts,
makes another turn of Her face towards the Sun.
The days grow slightly longer,
and deep beneath the hard crust of frozen soil,
She begins to stir.
Many can feel this inside of their Being,
living creatures grow restless,
Life hungers to express itself once again-
luscious colors, sounds, sweet winds.
We give thanks for the gift of Introspection.

"How strange and wonderful is our home, our earth,
With its swirling vaporous atmosphere,
Its flowing and frozen climbing creatures,
The croaking things with wings that hang on rocks
And soar through fog, the furry grass, the scaly seas...
How utterly rich and wild...
Yet some among us have the nerve,
The insolence, the brass, the gall to whine
About the limitations of our earthbound fate
And yearn for some more perfect world beyond the sky.
We are none of us good enough
For the world we have."
- Edward Abbey

Gather Yourselves, Sweet Ones.
Gather Your Dreams.
How will you Commit
to the Expression of your Life,
so full with Purpose?
How will you use the gift of your breath,
your actions, your words-
the precious moments of your physical existence?
What will you do this Season
to Give back to the Land that has given to you
this Life of lush, wild and spectacular Beauty?

All Change begins Within.
We are the ones
that our Ancestors Dreamed of.
We are the Ancestors
of those Yet to Come.
What Seeds in this World do you Plant in their Honor?
May you Walk in Beauty.
- Rev. Ursula Carrie
